BROMYARD GALA SHOW

5th-6th July 2008

Friday...

This weekend got off to a bad start on my behalf.? We were all going to meet at the show ground 5pm on-wards, But I got delayed, as for once I had to go to work, Delivering to the other side of  Nottingham on a Friday, not good. I did not have any time to load the chevette or get the camper ready. So I was in a bit of a flap when I got back. Any way, managed to get it on the road and heading to Bromyard thank to a bit of help from Gerry. Got to the show and its raining, (what’s new). Drove the camper and trailer with chevette on it, up hill into the grounds with out any slipping or sliding. Found the side pitch, that was good,? Right at the top of the hill, (cant be much water up there)..  It took about an hour to set up the display stand. With all of us working together, Pat & Mike Pugh, Gerry, Nick and myself. We had got 5 display cars and the HMC soapbox kart. Chevette, Skips Mini, Nicks Mk 2 escout, Seat circuit car and Sue’s new Westfield. (looking nice). As normal all polished and shiny except mine, I did wash it.

Saturday...

With the rain we had over night, my awning was full of water on the top, so we pushed it up and the weight of it as to much and started to rip the awning rail off the side of the van. It was still OK as long as it didn’t fill up again. It was a good day with Sun and a shower, but the wind was very strong. We had loads of public coming in and looking at what the club is about, and to look over the cars, and a general chit-chat to us. Pat had got the sandwiches and cakes out, and I don’t think my kettle has never seen so much water, it was on all the time. We did have the TV on to watch the F1 and was quite a crowd puller.  The first time I wonder off and have a trip to the loo’s and a quick look around, I came back to find the wind took my awning. So for the rest of the day we left it down.

Sunday...

With the amount of rain we had over night, and the forecast for loads more, I thought it was going to be an early trip home.? But 10am the sun came out and the rain stopped, There was a shower or two during the day and was enough to turn the side into a mud bath. It did not put the public off. Sunday was even bizzier that Saturday. We had loads of public on the stand, some to watch the F1.. All in all, I enjoyed the weekend, and I think the others did as well. I would like to thank all the main stand marshals, Sue underwood, Len Evens, Gerry Watkins, Pat and Mike Pugh. Also like to thank the owners of the display cars. Thanks to Sue and Pat for the fund raising competitions.
